It's a real treat with this new discovery from Spain! This full-bodied Syrah from the El Castilla winery is a fantastic, powerful red wine with plenty of suppleness, especially at this price point. The vineyards of this powerful red boy are located at an altitude of 800 meters. The Syrah grape thrives at this altitude because the grapes receive plenty of sunshine and cooling winds. The latter is crucial for a smooth growing season. The Mediterranean climate produces full, powerful bunches, and that's reflected in the warm flavor.

Wood aging for the Syrah from El Castilla

The Syrah grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness. Only the finest grapes are selected to create the finest El Castilla Syrah. Each bunch is meticulously inspected for any imperfections and carefully placed in small crates. In the winery, the grapes are crushed to release the juice. The juice is then transferred to wooden barrels, where it ages for at least six months. The use of wooden barrels contributes to the development of complex flavors and aromas in the wine.

Lovely notes of blackberries and ripe cherries complemented by light spices, a touch of black pepper, and a hint of licorice. The palate is grand, with a beautiful, full attack and soft nuances of fresh blackberries and cherries, toffee, spices, a touch of pepper, and chocolate. But what a treat it is!
