Rothschild's Chilean wines

The name Rothschild alone makes your mouth water these days. Perhaps the birthplace of all modern wines we know worldwide. It was Baron Philippe de Rothschild who made wine accessible to everyone. Rothschild wines originated in Bordeaux, but their expansion was boundless. They crossed the Atlantic and established vineyards in Chile. Ultimately, this marked the beginning of a beautiful Chilean fairytale.

The Escudo Rojo wines from Chile

Although Chile's natural conditions are almost perfect for viticulture, it took a long time for it to become commercially viable. Fortunately, for several decades now, we've been able to enjoy all the beauty that Chilean wines have to offer, including the wines of Escudo Rojo. These vineyards were meticulously planted by the Rothschild family at the end of the last century. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the general public has been able to enjoy the high quality of Escudo Rojo wines.

Chile's vineyards offer ample space for classic grape varieties. Conditions in Chile are comparable to those in French vineyards, particularly those in Bordeaux. This allows classic Bordeaux varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc to thrive. The spicy Syrah grape also has a unique vineyard overlooking the Andes. The Carmenere grape originated in Bordeaux but has become the pride of Chilean viticulture over the past thirty years.
