The word Puglia makes many wine lovers' mouths water. Because wines from Puglia are hot! The Primitivo grape plays a prominent role in this magnificent Italian wine region. This is partly due to the famous Primitivo di Manduria. This wine, made entirely of Primitivo, is only permitted around the village of Manduria. The soil here is perfect for Primitivo grape vines. This Italian appellation has become incredibly popular in recent decades. Enthusiasts are lining up for Primitivo di Manduria. So San Marzano certainly couldn't afford to be left behind and has also developed a superb wine, originating from Manduria.

Primitivo di Manduria tops the wine lists of many top restaurants. And we're not surprised, because the wines are of excellent quality. Fortunately, San Marzano also has several vineyards around Manduria, from which this perfect wine is made. Harvest usually takes place in the second week of September, giving the grapes plenty of time to ripen. After harvest and vinification, the wine is aged in French and American oak for a full 12 months in San Marzano's cellars. This is followed by a period of bottle aging before it makes its way here.

We're starting to crave this San Marzano red wine. Take a sip and be amazed. How incredibly soft! Like falling into a down comforter. Wonderful. You clearly taste the ripe cherries, and the bitter chocolate is characterized by a soft bitterness on the back of the tongue. Intense and rich. It's no wonder wine guru Luca Maroni awarded this wine a whopping 95 points!
