Hunter's, based in Marlborough, has a reputation for producing consistently high-quality wines year after year. The driving force behind this company is owner Jane Hunter. Her husband, Ernie Hunter, released the first vintage in 1983. In 1984, he was even the first to promote New Zealand wines in Europe. However, Ernie died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 37, and Jane decided to continue his work. Through her perseverance and determination to fully utilize the vineyard's potential, Hunter's has become a respected wine producer in New Zealand and many countries around the world. Current production amounts to approximately 60,000 cases (12 bottles), approximately half of which are exported. Hunter's has been certified by "Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand" as a company that meets all requirements regarding sustainable grape cultivation. Furthermore, the safest methods for the environment and public health are used in production. The goal is to protect the natural environment in and around the vineyards, protect the people who work and live in and around the vineyards, and offer the highest possible safety to consumers who drink wines made from grapes from these vineyards.
