The success story of Domaine La Negly began in 1992. Jean Paul-Rosset and the rest of the family moved into Château de Negly, a magnificent 18th-century manor house just a stone's throw from the Mediterranean Sea. It was there that they decided to transform the dilapidated and outdated vineyard to modern standards. Thirty years later, Domaine La Negly's wines are now among the very best in the South of France.

The wines of Domaine La Negly

The story begins in the 18th century. At that time, Château de Negly was still known as Château d'Ancely. Even then, grapes were being cultivated extensively. This was unique, as winemaking in the south of France was nowhere near as commercialized as it is today. When the fairytale Château came into the hands of Jean Paux-Rosset in 1992, every effort was made to make Domaine La Negly's wines a resounding success. The cellars underwent a major renovation, and state-of-the-art equipment was brought in. In addition, the aging vineyard was replanted. Old varieties like Terres, Aramon, and Carignan were replaced with contemporary varieties like Grenache, Syrah, and, of course, the renowned Chardonnay.

The château is surrounded by no fewer than 50 hectares of vineyards. Uniquely, some vineyards are situated practically on the coast, resulting in a significant difference in terroir and grape temperament. In addition to the regular vineyard, an additional 25 hectares were purchased from neighboring Boède in 2006. However, Domaine La Negly has undergone even more changes; daughter Marion now handles the day-to-day management, and her brother Bastien manages the vineyards.
