Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage in Argentina received an excellent score of 95 points in the reference charts. The wines from this year are of high quality, although they may still be somewhat firm and closed in their youth.
This Pinot Noir stands out in line with other La Posta wines. Initially, they intended to make a sparkling wine from these grapes, but after one failed harvest, they quickly realized they could make a better red! And they succeeded remarkably well!
Wines from different grape growers
La Posta is a single-vineyard wine brand, founded in 2002 by small family growers in Mendoza, Argentina. Each bottle is composed of five flagship wines and is named after the family that produced them. Laura Catena, daughter of the renowned wine pioneer Nicolas Catena, founded this wine. Her motivation was to give Mendoza's smaller winegrowers a platform of their own, rather than a nameless niche in the local cooperative. The series is named La Posta, after the typical local roadside pub found everywhere in that region. Thus, different growers grow the grapes, and the wines are made by a single winemaker. The grapes for this Pinot Noir come from the vineyards of Isaias Prieto. They are located in the relatively cool Tupungato region at an altitude of around 1200 meters. And Pinot Noir loves that altitude. The difference in temperature between day and night is particularly beneficial for this grape variety, resulting in a rich array of aromas and good acidity. Pinot Noir relies heavily on its delicious fruit, so only twenty percent of the wine is aged in used French oak barrels. The rest remains in stainless steel. This process takes ten months, after which they are blended, creating a true celebration. An elegant and soft Pinot Noir from La Posta
The Glorieta Pinot Noir erupts cherry red in the glass, instantly releasing its delicious aromas. The aroma reveals hints of nutmeg, herbs, flowers, strawberries, and blueberries. A delightfully fruity and sultry aroma. On the palate, this La Posta has a hint of spice. It's elegant and smooth, with good acidity and perfectly typifies Pinot Noir. All in all, a powerful red wine that pairs beautifully with grilled salmon, lamb chops, or risotto.Product details
