Australian wines with a high-quality reputation. Langmeil is one of Australia's finest wineries. While some wineries primarily strive to make accessible Australian wines, easy isn't an option for Langmeil. The wines offer depth and complexity, revealing a completely different side of Australian wine. The Australian wines of Langmeil
Viticulture in Australia has existed for centuries, but it only really took off in the last century. Despite its long history, Australia is still considered a New World winery. Australia boasts no fewer than four wineries in the top 10 of the world's largest wineries. These large wineries are primarily found in the states of New South Wales and Victoria. However, we must travel to South Australia to experience the true gems of Australian winemaking. We're traveling to Adelaide. After Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, Australia's fifth-largest city. Just north of this metropolis lies the Barossa Valley wine region. As you drive through this area, you'll be constantly surprised by wineries. In the heart of the region, we find Langmeil, a beautiful estate where wine has been produced since 1930.
The vineyards of Langmeil
The winery where Langmeil is now located was used intensively from 1930 to 1988. Until Langmeil's founding in 1996, the winery remained untouched. It needed a complete restoration to return to its original state. Langmeil was founded by three friends: Chris Bitter, Carl Lindner, and Richard Lindner. Thanks in part to their expertise, Langmeil wines are a resounding success.Langmeil's vineyards are primarily located in the Barossa Valley and offer a wide range of grape varieties, from local favorites like Syrah and Viognier to distinctive varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvedre, and Grenache Noir. A special highlight is the planting of Riesling, originally an Alsatian grape. This grape thrives particularly well thanks to the somewhat mild climate of the Barossa Valley.
