Austrian winemaking goes back centuries. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, the market for Austrian wines collapsed completely. This has been a major blow to several winemakers. Fortunately, Weingut Leth has always managed to maintain a high level of performance during these difficult times. And they have been doing so for over sixty years. It remains a true family business, with the third generation currently managing the business. Unique to Weingut Leth is their export policy. Besides Europe, Leth wines are also very popular in America and Japan.
The Austrian wines of Leth
The Leth story begins in 1960. At that time, Weingut Leth was founded by the couple Franz and Barbera Leth. Their son, Franz Leth, was born in 1961. This young man's life was thus dominated by wine from the very beginning. He studied at the most prestigious winemaking schools and officially joined the family business in 1981. From that moment on, Weingut Leth increased in quality and quantity, becoming a leading winery. After 25 years, Franz Jr., the son of Franz Leth, took over the reins. He ensured that the visions of his father and grandparents were continued.
The Gruner Veltliner wines from Leth
Gruner Veltliner is vital to Leth wines. Over half of Leth's vineyards are planted with it. Considering that Leth operates approximately 50 hectares of vineyards, this magnitude truly hits home. The vineyards are situated on the stunning hills near Wagram, providing ideal conditions for Gruner Veltliner grapes. This grape is responsible for two of Leth's most popular wines: Leth Gruner Veltliner and Leth Duett, where this national treasure is blended with Riesling.
Weingut Leth wines are the most beautiful
Besides wines made from the Gruner Veltliner grape, Weingut Leth offers much more. Consider the Leth Roter Veltiner Klassik, featuring the relatively unknown Roter Veltliner grape. Leth also has an excellent red wine in its selection: the Leth Blauer Zweigelt Klassik. Like the Gruner Veltliner, the Zweigelt is a true Austrian classic, ensuring that all Leth wines exude the atmosphere and culture of Austria.
