The name Nederburg will ring a bell for many wine lovers. This impressive winery has been producing phenomenal wines for over 230 years. What makes Nederburg special is its history. This winery has a Dutch influence. It was founded by Dutchman Philippus Wolvaart in 1791. He purchased an estate in Paarl of no less than 49 hectares, with a historic farmhouse at its center. Today, the historic farmhouse remains intact, but Nederburg's wines are contemporary. This also explains Nederburg's motto: progress in tradition.
South African wines
Nederburg wines are produced in the Paarl wine region. This region, located about 50 kilometers north of Cape Town, is considered one of the finest in South Africa. It excels primarily in the production of red wines; just try a sip of Nederburg The Motorcycle Marvel. But its white wines are also phenomenal. For over two centuries, Paarl has been known for producing top-notch wines!
Many prizes for Dutch wines
No South African winery has won more medals, trophies, and awards than Nederburg. They have elevated the quality of South African wines. After countless awards, the icing on the cake arrived in 2011 when Nederburg was crowned the best winery in the world. A tremendous honor, achieved through incredibly hard work. But with wines like Nederburg The Anchorman Chenin Blanc, we understand perfectly well why this winery was awarded.
The Nederburg wines for every occasion
Despite the international acclaim, Nederburg wines remain very friendly. Their excellent value for money has made them real crowd-pleasers. For example, Nederburg The Manor Chardonnay and Nederburg The Manor Shiraz demonstrate that perfect wines don't always have to be prohibitively expensive.
