Pascal Jolivet Attitude Pinot Noir 2024 IGP Val de Loire, France
Pascal Jolivet Attitude Pinot Noir 2024 is intended as a pure, unadulterated expression of Pinot Noir from the Loire Valley. The Attitude series represents freedom of style and provenance within the house, with wines that defy appellation rules and revolve entirely around the grape and the pleasure of drinking. This Pinot Noir demonstrates precisely that: light-footed, refined, and instantly recognizable as Pinot Noir, without oak influence or excessive extraction. It is a wine that reflects Pascal Jolivet's philosophy, where subtlety is always more important than concentration.
Vineyards and region
The grapes come from France, from the Loire Valley, within the IGP Val de Loire appellation. They originate from plots around Chemery in Touraine, an area known for its chalky soils with clay and flint. This combination creates tension and freshness in the wine. Pascal Jolivet works here with the idea that clear soil expression is essential for balance and drinkability. The choice of Touraine for the Attitude series underscores the desire to allow Pinot Noir to express itself in a clear, uncomplicated style.
Vinification and maturation
The vinification is entirely focused on finesse. The grapes are destemmed and macerated with reassembly, carefully working to preserve the natural elegance of Pinot Noir. Concentration is deliberately avoided. After fermentation, the wine matures for seven months in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The absence of oak aging ensures that the fruity character and fresh style remain central, precisely as intended within the Attitude philosophy.
Grape composition
Pinot Noir – Touraine
This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir. In this cool Loire Valley style, the grape produces a refined, slightly spicy wine with an emphasis on fresh red fruit and subtlety.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
The color is bright ruby red. The nose reveals aromas of strawberry and crushed raspberry, followed by a light spice with notes of white pepper. On the palate, the wine is smooth and refined, with a fresh structure and soft tannins. The finish is slightly spicy and elegant, without being heavy. Serve this wine preferably around 12°C. It pairs well with light dishes such as white meat, salads, and delicate spicy dishes.
