When the winery was founded in the early 1990s, the vineyards were planted. One important grape variety, in particular, became dominant: the national pride, Tempranillo. A grape that grew to prominence in Rioja, but also excelled elsewhere. A total of 160 hectares of vineyards have been planted. Because the vines are primarily oriented towards the east and south, the bunches receive maximum sunshine. Portia's red wines are all typical Ribera del Duera wines, with Tempranillo as the star. They are powerhouses, as Bodegas Portia certainly doesn't shy away from good oak aging. The highlight of the collection is the Portia Prima La Encina. Aged for an impressive 15 months, the wine is incredibly robust and robust: dark chocolate, robust tobacco, powerful cedar, and sultry vanilla.
