Raats is located in the king of South African wine regions: Stellenbosch. This beautiful corner of South Africa has been the scene of successful wine production for centuries. Leading wineries such as Thelema, Rust en Vrede, De Kleine Zalze, and Remhoogte have their origins here. And for good reason. Stellenbosch is perfectly situated. Not only for the climate; with Cape Town just around the corner, it's also an excellent logistical base.

The vineyards of Raats

Raats is a truly unique winery. Many wineries in South Africa plant a wide variety of grapes. However, Raats has chosen to plant just two grape varieties: Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. This is unconventional and challenging. Chenin Blanc has produced fine wines in South African soil for decades, while Cabernet Franc has been planted only sparsely. However, thanks to its dedicated attention and effort, Raats has ensured that the grapes are of excellent quality and produce fine wines today.

The lion's share of Raats' wine production is Chenin Blanc. However, Raats also manages to bring a variety of unique wines to the market. Because this Chenin Blanc is aged in oak, it has a lot of punch. Raats also scores highly with its Cabernet Franc.
