The Robert Mondavi Winery is a true family business. Until his death in 2008, the winery was still run by Robert Mondavi himself. He spent his childhood in California. After graduating from Stanford University, Robert Mondavi moved with his family to Napa Valley, where his family took over the Charles Krug winery. When Cesare died, Robert and his brother Peter took over the winery. However, due to a disagreement, Robert was sidelined by his mother and brother. Together with his eldest son, Michael, he then started his own winery: the Robert Mondavi Winery. Mondavi is also the name behind the Woodbridge Winery. Robert Mondavi is best known for his innovative winemaking methods. He introduced cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks and used French oak. As a result, the winery was often at the forefront of new technologies in the wine industry. These innovations have led to fundamental changes in the growth of the wine industry. Examples include gentle winemaking techniques, which enhance wine quality, natural farming, and protect people and the environment. Robert Mondavi is recognized as a leader in the wine industry, both nationally and internationally. He is known for his tradition of fine wines, and Mondavi has two goals. The first is to deliver quality wines that can compete with other great wines from around the world. The second is to create wines that the average consumer can enjoy every day. He has achieved this exceptionally well with the Woodbridge series. He has created some fantastic wines, and his family continues to do so.
