Is Merlot boring? We were convinced of this for a long time. However, Sainte Anne Barriques Merlot has helped us break this premise. Nothing boring. Nothing flat. Simply a full-bodied glass of red wine to relax and enjoy. Naturally, it's bursting with fruit, such as plump blueberries, freshly picked strawberries, and slightly tart cherries. But Sainte Anne Barriques Merlot has more; much more. Expert nose and taste will reveal distinct notes of licorice and oak.

A red wine from France

This oak-aged Merlot wine hails from what is arguably France's premier wine cellar. While the finest French wines have long resided in Bordeaux, Burgundy, and the Cotes du Rhone, the south of France has now joined the French wine elite. For a long time, the south of France primarily produced mass-produced wines, but thanks to the efforts of renowned winemakers, they are now also significantly distinguishing themselves. One such winemaker is Summum Wines, located in the Languedoc region. They are responsible for many wines, of which this Sainte Anne Barriques Merlot is the highlight of the collection.

The Languedoc region is particularly distinctive when it comes to grape varieties. A variety of different grapes can be found in the vineyards, but the vast majority of production is monovarietal. This means only one grape variety is used. This is also the case for Sainte Anne Barriques Merlot. The renowned Merlot grape grows in select vineyards located between Narbonne and Limoux, a little further from the coast, where the weather is slightly warmer. After the harvest, the secret of Sainte Anne Barriques Merlot is revealed. After pressing, the juice undergoes an impressive oak aging process. The rich juice is divided equally between new, one-year-old, and two-year-old barrels.
