California, who doesn't dream of it? The Mamas & The Papas were already singing the praises of this sunny state in the 1960s. Just as Californian winemaking was booming. Leading wineries were being established and new wine regions were being discovered. Monterey County, today home to Scheid Family Wines, was one of them.

The Californian wines from Monterey

The powerful Scheid Family Wines winery was founded in 1972. Al Scheid planted the first vineyards in Monterey County. While this area is now known for its superb California wines, in the 1970s it was technically undeveloped. However, Al Scheid recognized the potential of this region, nestled between the metropolises of San Francisco and Los Angeles. Thanks to its unique microclimate, Monterey is now a hub of fantastic wineries.

The vineyards of Scheid Family Wines

It's been almost fifty years since the first vines were planted by founder Al Scheid. In the early years, he sold his entire production to leading wineries. However, through incredible hard work, Scheid Family Wines is now among those leading wineries. The vineyard acreage now encompasses nearly 1,700 hectares! That's a vast amount, even by California standards. Spread across a dozen individual vineyards, these hectares contain dozens of different grape varieties. Yet, it's the Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon that most impress the wine-drinking public.

Pareto's Estate wine from California

Scheid Family Wines has established several wineries. The most impressive, in our opinion, is Pareto's, situated in the most beautiful locations in Monterey. Pareto's celebrates the power of each individual grape. The winemaker carefully considers the precise needs of each varietal and knows how to create a fine wine from them. For example, Pareto's Estate Chardonnay is beautifully aged in oak, while the Pinot Noir grapes for Pareto's Estate Pinot Noir are grown in vineyards near the coast, giving the juice a robust yet refreshing finish.

The perfect wines from District 7 Estate

Besides Pareto's wines, Scheid Family Wines also surprises us with its District 7 Estate wines. Three exquisite wines that represent the pinnacle of Scheid Family Wines' range. Consider the District 7 Estate Grown Chardonnay, with its centuries-long oak aging. Or the robust District 7 Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon. All gems, thanks to half a century of craftsmanship by the Scheid family.
