A unique masterpiece is this Didyme from Tasca, made exclusively from Malvasia grapes grown in warm Sicily. Originally a grape often used for sweet white wines, this dry white wine is so unique. The grape first saw the light of day in Greece and is now more widely available in countries like Italy. Tasca's winemaker loves this white Malvasia and creates the Didyme wine with great passion. And it shows; the aroma and flavor are full of passion, making it one of our favorites from Tasca. Robert Parker also loved this wine, awarding it an impressive 91 points in his career.

The old vineyard of Didyme

As we mentioned, this white Didyme is made from Malvasia grapes grown in sunny Sicily. In the old vineyard, harvesting is a precise process. If the grapes ripen too long, they develop too much sugar, so the harvest for this Didyme is brought in very early. Harvesting the Malvasia grapes begins in the middle of the night. This is done to allow the grapes to rest and minimize damage during transport.

What does Tasca Didyme taste like?

This Malvasia grape grows in a warm climate, perfectly suited to Sicily. But they also receive plenty of coolness from the sea breeze and nighttime temperatures, which is essential for making a refreshing wine from this grape. The aroma is a very lively white wine, with intense notes of flowers, apricots, yellow plums, and wax. But above all, it's intense and powerful, which makes it truly special. The ripe notes continue on the palate, crisp and dry with aromas of ripe pear, yellow plums, and lovely acidity. A powerful dry white wine that pairs wonderfully with shrimp, vitello tonato, and risotto, among other dishes. But don't forget shellfish and crustaceans, as this Didyme wine also pairs perfectly with them.
