Terrazas Winery, officially Terrazas de los Andes, is a renowned winery from one of South America's most beautiful wine regions: Mendoza. The winery was founded in the late 1950s on some of Argentina's finest vineyards. It was founded by the prestigious champagne house Moët & Chandon, which wanted to showcase a different side of itself. The refinement of this champagne house is therefore reflected in the quality of its vineyards and wines. Exactly what you would expect. It's no wonder that Terrazas de los Andes wines are among the most sought-after in South America.

The Argentine wines of Terrazas

Terrazas de los Andes literally means "Terraces of the Andes." All vineyards are carefully selected and are, on average, considerably higher than those of other wineries. This clearly influences the quality, which is significantly higher. Besides vineyards in the illustrious Mendoza, Terrazas also has several smaller vineyards in Vistalba and Cafayate. These are lesser-known, but certainly worth a visit. Thanks to their craftsmanship, which dates back over half a century, they also possess the expertise to produce high-quality Argentine wines that will undoubtedly delight you.

The Terrazas de los Andes wines

Terrazas offers a variety of wines. The wines made from the indigenous Malbec are the most famous. This grape, originally from France, had almost completely disappeared in Europe. However, it was rediscovered in Argentine vineyards. Terrazas winery is eager to capitalize on this. The result is a wide range of Argentine Malbec wines. The Terras de los Andes Malbec has become a real crowd-pleaser. Its exorbitant price-quality ratio is unique. Terrazas also offers other spectacular wines in this series, such as the refreshing Terrazas de los Andes Torrontes and the sultry Terras de los Andes Chardonnay.

Besides a wide range of beloved wines, Terrazas also offers some crown jewels. Also highly sought-after, but less accessible. They represent the power and quality that Mendoza has to offer. Robust, heavy, and fleshy. Not an everyday glass of wine, but one you really need to sit down for. We're talking about a robust, oak-aged Malbec, the Terrazas de los Andes Grand Malbec. However, this isn't yet the best top wine from this house.

The absolute highlight of Terrazas is Cheval des Andes. A unique wine, of which we were fortunate enough to purchase a few bottles. While this Cheval des Andes has a hefty price tag, it's more than worth every sip. James Suckling, a world-renowned wine journalist, agreed. This wine received a full 100 points, which is truly unique.
