The Terre Cortesi cooperative was founded in the 1970s. The company owns 900 hectares of vineyards, including those in the Castello di Jesi area and the new DOC Esino. Esino is located in one of the river valleys that cut across the Adriatic Sea, right next to the DOC Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. The valley's beautiful slopes feature soils from the Miocene and Pliocene epochs. This DOC is named after the Esino river that flows through the valley. During the 1980s and early 1990s, Terre Cortesi pursued a policy strongly focused on improving the quality of its wines. Specifically, the quantity of grapes harvested per hectare was drastically reduced, a measure aimed at producing wines with greater power and concentration. A form of organic farming was introduced in the vineyards. All the modern equipment necessary for modern winemaking was acquired in the cellar. In recent years, efforts have been made to take a final step forward by further improving winemaking techniques. For this purpose, "flying winemakers" were hired. These are winemakers who travel from elsewhere to provide on-site advice on winemaking methods, ensuring the best results are achieved with the harvested grapes.
