In the picturesque heart of Collio Goriziano, a region that extends to the borders of neighboring Slovenia, lies the iconic Toros Winery. When one wonders where to find Franco Toros, the answer always resonates passionately: in the vineyard. After all, for Franco, there's no better place on earth than close to his beloved grapes. The story of Toros Winery begins with Edoardo, Franco's grandfather, who planted his roots firmly in the hills of Novali at the beginning of the twentieth century. And what a choice that was! The Collio region, whose name aptly means "hills" in Italian, is a paradise of rolling landscapes and unique microclimates. This natural wealth results in wines that are vibrant, with a freshness reminiscent of the cool breeze blowing over the hills.
At Toros, tradition is paramount. While white grape varieties like Friulano and Pinot Grigio take center stage in Collio's wine tapestry, the Toros family also allows the magic of Ribolla, Malvasia, and Sauvignon Blanc to shine. And let's not forget the rare red wines, crafted with the finesse of Bordeaux grape varieties. Every glass of Toros wine is a reflection of the land: hand-harvested grapes, carefully fermented in stainless steel tanks, all to preserve the authentic, fruity flavor profile of each grape.
The essence of Toros Winery, however, is the family itself. While Franco lovingly and carefully cultivates the ten hectares of vineyard, his wife, Rosanna, is the beating heart of the estate. With the help of his brother Renato and the dedication of their three daughters—Eva, Cristina, and Erika—it's clear that the Toros tradition will continue for many generations to come.
