Torres Chile
Buy or order Torres Chile wine
The story of this Chilean winery begins, surprisingly enough, in Spain at the end of the 19th century. Torres Senior, a Spanish winemaker, had completed his training in France and planted the first vineyards in Penedes, northeastern Spain. After over 100 years of winemaking, the Torres family had established themselves as leaders in Spanish viticulture. After this, the family decided to change course.
The Torres wines to the Chilean wine fields
The year is 1979. The owner of the Torres winery is a descendant of Miguel Torres. They have practically overcome every challenge in the Spanish vineyards; they are practically the largest and most famous winery on the Iberian Peninsula. On one of his world trips, Miguel Torres saw Chile's potential as a wine country. Wine was being made there, but not efficiently and effectively. He purchased a neglected 200-hectare estate near Curico Valley and created a remarkable following.
The Torres wines are the best wines from Chile
Thanks to the efforts of Miguel Torres, Chilean viticulture flourished. Locals still honor the Torres family, as they owe them a great deal. Thanks to Torres, a growing number of leading wineries, including the illustrious Baron Philippe de Rothschild, discovered the wine country. Miguel Torres also introduced international grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc to Chilean vineyards. These renowned grape varieties still account for the lion's share of Chilean wines.
Torres wines are organic wines
Besides a commercial heart, the Torres family also has a social heart. They strive to produce as organically and biodynamically as possible. For example, their wineries in Spain are equipped with solar panels. For Torres Chile wines, the winery operates differently. Three aspects are considered crucial to viticulture: paying a fair price for raw materials, creating good working conditions for the local population, and being environmentally conscious. This combination has led to Torres Chile's Chilean wines being awarded the Fair Trade label.
The Torres wines from Chile
Torres offers a wide range of Chilean wines. Santa Digna wines, for example, have become a staple in the hospitality industry. The distinctive Viognier grape, which thrives surprisingly well in Chilean vineyards, is a particularly popular wine. We're also huge fans of Torres' Cordillera wines. Our personal favorite is perhaps the Cordillera Sauvignon Blanc, which boasts an ideal combination of freshness and craftsmanship. However, thanks to its years of experience, Torres boasts a very broad selection of Chilean wines, which are incredibly popular with wine drinkers worldwide.
