The Spanish winery Bodegas Vicente Gandia was founded in 1885 by Vicente Gandia. This company traded wine in barrels on the European market. This continued until the late 1960s, when the third generation took over the winery. This generation saw new opportunities for bottled wine sales. The Gandia family was the first in Valencia to offer wine this way. Their choice for bottled wine benefited the quality of the wines, and it wasn't long before other wineries followed suit. Another important development was the acquisition of the Hoya de Cadenas Estate, 100 kilometers west of Valencia. At an altitude of 800 meters, the vineyards grow Tempranillo and Bobal, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. These vineyards benefit from a microclimate where the temperature differences between day and night are highly conducive to the development of the grape's aromas. Hoya de Cadenas has modern wine cellars and a barrel cellar on site. Hoya de Cadenas wines are focused on further expanding their international presence. The company, now run by the fourth generation, Javier Gandia, has focused on expanding its portfolio with wines from Rioja, Rueda, Rías Baixas, as well as Ribera del Duero and even Priorat. Vicente Gandia's philosophy has remained the same throughout the years: to produce wines that are reliable year after year, accessible, and easy to drink, always offering exceptional value.
