Vignoble Ferret

Step off the beaten path and look around. There's still so much to discover. For example, the Cotes de Gascogne, home to the Ferret winery. Located in southwest France, it's in a region that's not so obvious. But don't let that fool you: the Cotes de Gascogne is brimming with delicious wines, and Ferret's wines are living proof of that.

The Cotes de Gascogne is a wine region gaining increasing popularity among vinologists, sommeliers, and wine journalists. For a long time, wine wasn't produced there, even though it had perhaps the most vineyards in all of France. This was due to the production of Armagnac, which was incredibly popular in the second half of the 20th century. The grape skins were distilled, resulting in a drink known as Armagnac. After demand for Armagnac declined, many winegrowers decided to switch to viticulture, and by chance, they discovered that the region's location was ideal for producing successful wines.

French wines from Ferret

Vignobles Ferret is part of the illustrious Domaine de Guillaman. Dominique Ferret represents the sixth generation of Ferret winemakers, and he has faced considerable challenges. His parents died when he was four, leaving him to be raised by his grandparents. When his grandfather passed away when Dominique was 17, this talented man was left completely alone. However, he channeled his grief and anger into a relentless dedication, resulting in Ferret wines being perhaps the most beloved in the entire Cotes de Gascogne region.

Wines from Ferret

The Cotes de Gascogne is known for its white grapes. The unique terroir, combined with the distinct influence of the Atlantic Ocean, makes grape varieties like Colombard, Ugni Blanc, and Sauvignon Blanc well-suited to the vineyards. These fresh varieties benefit enormously from the sun, resulting in almost all the grapes in the Cotes de Gascogne being white. However, Dominique Ferret is not afraid of a challenge and took on the challenge of planting the full-bodied Chardonnay and the red varieties Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Order Ferret wine

Besides the classic Ferret Cotes de Gascogne Colombard Ugni Blanc and Ferret Cotes de Gascogne Sauvignon Blanc, you can buy many other Ferret wines. A very successful wine is the Ferret Rosé de Pressée Cotes de Gascogne. A unique rosé made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Fresh, juicy, fruity, but above all, incredibly balanced.
