The 2023 vintage in Spain experienced a long and balanced growing season, resulting in excellent quality and healthy bunches. The wines from this year show a beautiful balance and retain their natural freshness due to the favorable weather conditions.

Truly incredible, what a beautiful wine! Beautiful freshness with abundant oak notes. A unique masterpiece from the Valmoro winery, part of the large and renowned Alvarez Y Diez estate. The winery boasts no fewer than one hundred hectares of vineyards spread across Spain's most beautiful wine regions. For the finest freshness and authenticity, you must visit Rueda, says the winemaker. The Verdejo grapes for this top-notch wine are grown at a remarkable altitude. Because of the vineyard's altitude, the Verdejo bunches receive ample sunshine and are cooled by the wind and nighttime temperatures. This freshness remains in the bunches, and we taste that in this beautiful oak-aged white wine.

Wood storage for the Valmoro 6 Meses and Barrica

The label already states it: 6 months of oak aging. But before that happens, the Verdejo bunches ripen on very old trunks. These are planted in a very strong soil structure with plenty of lime and gravel. After a long and balanced growing season, the bunches are harvested at night. This prevents bruising during transport to Valmoro and allows the bunches to retain their freshness. Once the bunches are brought in, they are thoroughly inspected. Only the best are pressed, and the wine is aged for several months on the lees. After this, this white Valmoro Rueda Verdejo 6 Meses en Barrica receives a minimum of six months of oak aging. The result? A truly delightful glass of wine!

Full and very powerful this Valmoro Rueda Verdejo

Upon opening the bottle, we immediately smell ripe tropical fruit, interspersed with herbs and a hint of cedar. In the glass, it erupts into a dazzling golden yellow with a soft greenish note. We carefully sniff this wine, and our noses are treated to hints of lime, pear, green herbs, and a touch of toasted oak. We take a small sip, and the world around us pauses for a moment. What a beautiful, fresh citrus fruit on the palate. On the cheeks, a beautifully complex attack of herbs, cedar, vanilla, and exotic fruit. Later, some fennel and pineapple give this Valmoro Rueda Verdejo 6 Meses en Barrica a wonderfully long finish. What a magnificent wine, unbelievable!
