Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage in Northern Italy was characterized by a warm summer, which led to excellent ripeness and concentration in the grapes. With scores up to 91 points for the region, the wines are described as high-quality and generally approachable early.
Our journey to this exceptional white wine from Italy begins in the culturally rich northern Italian city of Verona, a city where pure Italy reigns supreme. From there, we travel east; the village of Soave is our destination. This village is world-famous, naturally for its Soave Classico wines. Just north of this iconic village, we find the Ca' Rugate winery, named after the Rugate hill of the same name, which forms a massive centerpiece for the vineyards of this spectacular winery.
The Tessari family is responsible for this winery. This entrepreneurial family is well-known in this region. Now in its fourth generation, it's leading the winery, and it continues to enjoy great success. They operate in all the well-known areas of Veneto. This Alto Soave Classico is one of the latest creations from the Ca' Rugate winery.
The Italian vineyards of this Soave wine
In Soave Classico wines, Garganega takes center stage. This soft yet refreshing grape has been a hit with wine lovers for decades. It perhaps truly shines in a Soave Classico. Garganega grows in the most beautiful vineyards surrounding the village of Soave, in the commune of Monteforte d'Alpone, where the vines of Ca Rugate are planted. The soil contains a lot of volcanic rock, which clearly influences the quality of the grapes for this Ca Rugate Monte Alto Soave Classico.Impressions of Ca Rugate Monte Alto Soave Classico
Foil Tessari once again proves that they can make wine with this white wine. A sparkling gem you absolutely won't get enough of. The grapes for this Soave Classico are fermented partly in stainless steel and partly in oak barrels. This gives the wine more depth and complexity. The result is a robust bouquet of wildflowers and overripe fruit. The oak aging is clearly recognizable, both in the aroma and the taste. The finish seems lingering, and with fresh notes of orange peel and lime, you'll hardly wait for the next sip of Ca Rugate Monte Alto Soave Classico.Product details
