Vintage Report
De jaargang 2022 in de Veneto regio wordt als uitstekend beschouwd met een score van 91 punten. De wijnen worden omschreven als jeugdig en krachtig met een goede structuur die baat heeft bij verdere rijping.
This is the so-called baby Amarone from Ca'Rugate, a gem of a wine with immense depth, we can tell you. Its history goes back a long way, as the fourth generation of the Tessari family is currently at the helm. The family name is well-known in the region, having produced top wines for years, including this Campo Bastiglia Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore. All wines are made with the utmost respect for nature and rooted in history and tradition. Wines with precision and the character of the volcanic soil. This red wine has also made waves in the international wine press, receiving a 92-point rating from James Suckling, which is quite remarkable for its price point.
Wood bearing for the Campo Bastiglia Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore
This red wine uses the finest grapes from the beautiful hilly region of Montecchia di Crosara. Here, the old vines are filled with Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes. The vines draw strength from the rich soil structure, which consists of limestone and gravel, making the bunches truly phenomenal. After a long maturation period, they are carefully harvested by hand in the early morning. Each bunch is inspected, and only the finest are used in this pristine Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore. After the first pressing, this red wine undergoes a second fermentation with the must from the great Amarone wine. This makes this Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore even fuller and more powerful. This unique technique contributes to the quality, and it's no wonder this is a wine for connoisseurs. After the second fermentation, the wine is partially aged in oak barrels to enhance its finesse. Indeed, a truly special piece of craftsmanship from Ca'Rugate. What does Ca'Rugate Valpolicella Ripasso taste like?
The aroma is concentrated, with abundant notes of red cherries and flowers, and subtly spicy. The palate is full-bodied with soft tannins, making it truly delicious. James Suckling agreed, awarding this wine a remarkable 92 points. On the palate, we noted hints of black fruit, vanilla, oak, currants, and stewed plums.Product details
