Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage for dry Portuguese wines received an excellent rating of 94 points from Robert Parker. The wines from this vintage are approachable and perfect for early drinking.
A tropical party in a glass. This Casa Velha Douro is a delicious white wine that is exceptionally refreshing. The blend consists of Gouveio, Moscatel, and Viosinho, all grown on the warm slate slopes of the Douro. The region is hilly, and the vineyards enjoy a wonderful climate, even at high altitude. This gives the wine depth without losing its freshness.
Manual harvest for Casa Velha Douro White
Adega Cooperativa de Favaios has been one of the most prestigious wineries in Portugal since 1952. With its 550 employees, this winery uniquely combines passion and tradition. The winery is located in one of the most important municipalities in the Favaios wine region. In northern Portugal, the vineyards enjoy a wide range of altitudes. This allows the winery to produce a wide variety of wines. The higher the altitude, the lighter the wines, and the lower the altitude, the fuller the wines. The grapes are planted on the best plots on the Favaois plateau. At optimal ripeness, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand in early September. They are then taken almost immediately to the winery, where they are destemmed and crushed. Skin maceration follows for at least 24 hours. After a light pressing, the must is cleared, and alcoholic fermentation begins at a controlled temperature. After 15 days, the wine is aged for another three months on the fine lees in stainless steel vats.A tropical white wine from Adega de Favaois
We pour this top-quality white wine and immediately enjoy the aromas of pineapple, melon, and pear, complemented by lemon and orange zest. On the palate, it's a harmonious wine with flavors of pineapple, coconut, and peach. We also notice notes of lemon with lively acidity. A wonderfully refreshing wine that pairs exceptionally well with fish dishes.Product details
