Vintage Report

The 2022 vintage for German white wines from this region received an excellent top score of up to 95 points. However, it was an inconsistent vintage in terms of consistent quality.
A delicious Weissburgunder from the Baden region. With nearly 16,000 hectares of vineyards, this wine-growing region is the third-largest in Germany. Baden boasts a sunny, warm climate, allowing the grapes to ripen perfectly. The Haltinger winemakers know exactly how to handle the conditions and select the finest Weissburgunder grapes for this white wine. Deliciously juicy and perfectly balanced.

Haltinger's 42 hectares of vineyards

The Haltinger winegrowers' cooperative was founded in 1936 by 60 active winegrowers in the municipality of the same name in the southern triangle of Baden. On approximately 42 hectares of vineyards spread across the Haltinger Stiege, Weiler Schlipf, Tüllinger sonnenunden, and Ötlinger Sonnhole sites, 110 Haltinger winegrowers now produce a variety of wines with diverse flavors. Haltinger's main grape varieties are Gutedel and Pinot Noir, as well as smaller quantities of Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gewürztraminer. The Pinot Blanc grapes come from plots on the southwest side of the hill. The soil consists of limestone marl with a loess layer. This contributes to the grape variety's unique characteristics. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, ensuring that only the finest grapes are selected for the final wine. In the winery, a cold maceration process lasts eight hours. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. The wine is then allowed to rest for a while before bottling.

The aroma and taste of Haltinger Weissburgunder

Haltinger's Weissburgunder has a light green color in the glass. The aroma is delightfully fresh with a hint of chestnut. On the palate, this Weissburgunder is deliciously juicy with notes of honey and ripe apples. The white wine is perfectly balanced with the acidity and is, above all, very appealing. This wine pairs perfectly with fresh salads, fish appetizers, or a light ragout. It's also a great choice for an aperitif or on its own.
