Moldovan viticulture has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, and Chateau Purcari has certainly noticed this. The winery has been crafting exquisite wines for centuries, cultivating its grapes on ancient lands. These ancient lands have been planted with various grape varieties since the 12th century. Chateau Purcari is located in the southern part of Moldova, near the tri-border area where Moldova, Ukraine, and Transnistria meet. While the latter doesn't officially exist, it is still considered a separate country by the locals. Chateau Purcari takes its name from the village of the same name, which also bears the name Purcari. Around Purcari village, you'll find the winery and the beautiful vineyards of the Agon Zograf Monastery.
In the year 1827 they received recognition
In 1827, Emperor Nicholas I of Russia granted the winery the status of the first specialized winery in Bessarabia. This brought great success to this magnificent Moldavian winery. A few years later, Château Purcari's wines graced the tables of no less than Tsar Nicholas II and King George V of England. Several years ago, Purcari's current owner recognized the estate's beauty. He invested in more modern winemaking techniques and devoted considerable attention to the vineyards. The palate is vibrant with abundant citrus fruit, some fresh exotic fruit, and a touch of mint and grapefruit.
