After the resounding success of Sainte Anne's Chardonnay, the winery is now releasing a truly pure Viognier. Connoisseurs know that Sainte Anne belongs to the Luc Pirlet family, and they're no strangers in France. This family business has been producing fine wines in the southern Pays d'Oc region for years. The winemakers at Sainte Anne have been working hard in recent years to achieve their dream: a full-bodied Viognier aged in oak. And they've more than succeeded: a full-bodied and creamy white wine with abundant, powerful flavors.

Wood aging for the Sainte Anne Barriques Viognier

The Viognier grapes grow on old vines, which are situated in soil rich in limestone, clay, and gravel, allowing the bunches to draw abundant nutrients from the subsoil. The climate in which the bunches grow is perfect, with abundant sunshine, but also the right cooling breeze, and a sharp drop in nighttime temperatures. This creates the perfect balance between warmth and coolness, allowing for a robust harvest of Viognier grapes. Part of the harvest is harvested by hand and subject to strict controls. Only the finest bunches are used in this Sainte Anne Barriques Viognier. After pressing, the juice is aged in French oak barrels, half of which are new. The entire aging period lasts several months, allowing the wine to acquire all the wonderful qualities of the oak barrel. A wine never to be forgotten, so beautiful and full-bodied.

Full and very powerful this Sainte Anne Viognier

Upon opening this bottle, we immediately smell the Viognier grape, with beautiful floral and exotic fruit aromas. In the glass, it emanates a golden yellow color with a bright sparkle. Nosing the glass, we encounter a diverse aroma of both yellow and tropical fruit, along with notes of cedar, vanilla, and spice. On the palate, this Sainte Anne Barriques Viognier initially delivers a creamy sensation. Beautiful tropical fruit flavors are followed by hints of citrus and peaches. Swirling the wine around the mouth, we also taste cedar and vanilla notes, derived from the wooden barrel. The finish is long, creamy, and irresistible. What a magnificent wine!
