The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

Enter the elegant and refined world of Can Bas La Romana Chardonnay Xarel-Lo, a wine that harmoniously blends tradition and innovation. This masterpiece, created from a careful blend of Chardonnay and Xarel-Lo grapes, proudly represents the esteemed Can Bas winery in Spain’s renowned Penedès wine region.

Can Bas La Romana Chardonnay Xarel-Lo is a special wine with an interesting provenance and a careful vinification process. This wine combines the characteristics of the Chardonnay and Xarel-Lo grapes, which grow on limestone soil in the La Romana vineyards of the Can Bas estate. The vineyards where the grapes are grown are located on limestone soil. This soil is ideal for the Xarel-Lo grape and contributes to the specific characteristics of the wine. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness, ensuring that only the finest grapes are used in the winemaking process. Ninety percent of the wine is then aged for six months in French oak barrels. These barrels add complexity and texture to the wine, while also imparting subtle vanilla and toasted aromas. A unique aspect of this wine's process is that 10 percent of it is aged in amphorae for six months. Amphoras are traditional earthenware vessels used for centuries to store and age wine. The use of amphorae can add another dimension to the wine and contribute to the development of specific aromas and flavors.

Can Bas La Romana Chardonnay Xarel-Lo captivates at first sight with its radiant golden yellow color that shimmers in the glass like a Catalan sunset. The bouquet is a fragrant symphony of aromas: think fresh yellow apple, juicy peach, and subtle notes of tropical fruits like pineapple, complemented by a hint of honey and sweet vanilla from the careful oak aging. Upon first sip of Can Bas La Romana Chardonnay Xarel-Lo, your palate is treated to a rich and concentrated melange of flavors. Ripe fruit takes center stage, supported by subtle notes of creamy vanilla and a light touch of spice. These complex flavors are perfectly balanced by a refreshing acidity, giving the wine its remarkable structure and depth. The finish is long and pronounced, with a lingering impression of ripe fruit and a hint of toast.
