The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

The most distinctive wine from the remarkable Schloss Maissau estate. A Gruner Veltliner worthy of the highest spot on the podium: that is Schloss Maissau Ried Neuberg Schanz Gruner Veltliner. With this, the Gruber family, the driving force behind Schloss Maissau's success, has truly proven their worth and rightfully earned their place among Austria's leading wine families.

The wines of Schloss Maissau were born out of pure passion. At the beginning of this century, the castle, which dates back to the 13th century, lay abandoned and dilapidated. Only a caretaker remained, performing only the most essential tasks. He was also overjoyed when the Gruber family announced their presence. The Gruber family had already made a commercial splash with other wineries and stumbled upon Schloss Maissau. Despite the shabby vineyards, they immediately saw the terroir's potential. In 2006, the castle, including its 5 hectares of vineyards, was purchased. By the second harvest, the winery had already earned organic certification—thanks purely to their hard work. Today, it is one of the top producers of Gruner Veltliner wines.

Despite having only 5 hectares of vineyards, the Gruber family manages to create a distinctive wine. They utilize their in-house expertise: the difference lies in the terroir, which is particularly rich for this Schloss Maissau Ried Neuberg Schanz Gruner Veltliner. The result is a multi-layered wine; a glass of wine you'll savor again and again, where new dimensions are revealed with every sip. The herbaceous notes remind us of the characteristic Austrian alpine meadows. But the tropical notes of passion fruit and mango are also striking in Schloss Maissau Ried Neuberg Schanz Gruner Veltliner. Swirl the wine again—now it really comes alive! Fine tobacco, baked apple, and spicy oak. Schloss Maissau Ried Neuberg Schanz Gruner Veltliner is a dream wine.
