2023 was een uitstekend jaar voor Sancerre, gekenmerkt door een goede balans tussen rijpheid en frisheid. De omstandigheden waren gunstig voor Sauvignon Blanc, wat resulteerde in wijnen met levendige zuren en expressieve aroma's.

What unparalleled beauty and purity this white Sancerre from Roblin possesses. It is a true family winery, bearing the name Château de Maimbray. Today, the fourth generation of the family is at the helm of this beautiful winery. Matthias initially began in 2000, succeeding his father, and his brother joined him six years later. Now, the brothers create truly exquisite wines. The estate is divided into no fewer than forty different plots. Each plot has its own unique style, allowing for the production of a superb glass of Sancerre. Roblin has a total of nineteen hectares of vineyards, the majority of which are planted with Sauvignon Blanc.

The vineyards for the white Sancerre Origine Blanc are located around the villages of Maimbray and Sury-en-Vaux, 6 km northwest of the city of Sancerre. Here, the brothers cultivate very steep slopes, resulting in fantastic harvests. The soils are rich in limestone and clay, allowing the vines to absorb a wealth of nutrients. Grassed areas between most plots prevent soil erosion and promote better grape ripeness.

The refined taste of this white Sancerre Origine Blanc

The grapes are grown with the utmost respect for nature, and you can taste the difference. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are rigorously selected again on the tables, removing all the bad bunches. This Roblin Sancerre then matures for a full six months on the lees, giving it its full and characteristic flavor. The aroma reveals a lovely freshness of green apple, minerals, lime zest, and a touch of grapefruit. The palate is soft and very clean, with plenty of white fruit such as apple, pear, and melon. On the back of the palate, the wine reveals a beautiful, clean style of minerals, green pepper, and grapefruit.
