This latest white wine from Ramon Bilbao is a real treat! These Verdejo grapes are grown in the beautiful Rueda wine region. The soil is primarily rocky and clay-clay, producing soft, fresh wines that are highly sought after. The Verdejo grapes come from vines over twenty years old, giving them depth and suppleness.

The old Verdejo vineyard in Rueda

Ramón Bilbao Winery is located in Haro, Rioja Alta, and was founded in 1924 by Ramón Bilbao Murga. It is a leading winery, frequently recognized for producing top-quality wines. In 2013, the Bodega was named Winemaker of the Year. They work daily to achieve the highest possible quality for red and white wines. The Bodega has vineyards in the best locations in the Rioja region, where the warm winds from the dry Sierra de Cantabria collide with the cooler Mediterranean breeze. This allows the grapes to ripen perfectly and retain sufficient freshness. This Verdejo has also won awards. This delicious white wine was voted the best white wine from Spain by 'La Nariz de Oro' in 2011.

What does the Ramon Bilbao Verdejo Rueda taste like?

All grapes come from vines over twenty years old. Harvesting is carried out entirely at night due to the lower temperatures. Harvesting is entirely mechanical. After crushing, the must is cooled, and gravity is used for the first clarification. Fermentation begins about two days later, with controlled temperatures and strict hygiene throughout the entire process. Harvest season can be very warm, so the grapes are picked early, while the cool night air still lingers between the Verdejo vines. The wine has beautiful aromas with authentic Verdejo grape notes, along with passion fruit, anise, and fennel. Tropical aromas and a pleasant bitter note in the background. Medium body with a fresh and lingering finish.
