This ten-year-old port comes from the family-owned port house Quinta do Portal, which is unique. Many port houses have since been acquired by investors, but fortunately, this one is still family-owned. This guarantees quality, and it boasts a total of 95 hectares of vineyards spread across the Douro Valley. The family also owns four Quintas: Quinta da Abelheira, Quinta do Confradeiro, Quinta dos Muros, and Quinta do Portal. However, the wine cellar and the old port house are located near the town of Pinhão, the heart of the port region. Here, all Portuguese port wines are still made according to traditional methods. Over the years, Portal has invested heavily in the vineyards and all associated facilities, further enhancing the quality. And we can certainly taste that in this Portal 10-Year-Old Port.

This port is made from the very best grape varieties found in the Douro region. These grow on very old vines and produce a top-notch harvest that is harvested entirely by hand. All port wines are stored in Port Pipes, or port barrels, for aging. For this 10-Year-Old Port, winemaker Paulo Coutinho and master blender Jeremy Bull create a port with an average age of 10 years. Extensive tasting is conducted to create the perfect blend between the different vintages. The result is outstanding, with great depth and richness in this Portal 10-Year-Old Port.

Full and very powerful this 10 year old Portal port

It's quite a special experience, as it's very smooth. But let's start with the intense color, which tinges brownish-red in the glass with a slight purple hue. The most beautiful aromas emerge, giving us impressions of roasted walnuts, candied fruit, almonds, and a touch of toffee. The palate is intense, leaving the palate with beautiful, rich flavors of dried fruit, delicious chocolate and spices, nuts and cherries, and a hint of orange. Later, the palate and finish reveal a lovely freshness with plenty of soft black fruit flavors.
