Albert Bichot Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018 | Raw terroir, pure finesse
Latricières-Chambertin is one of the most minerally and refined Grand Crus of the Côte de Nuits. This Albert Bichot expression from the sunny vintage of 2018 demonstrates how power and elegance can seamlessly blend. The wine is complex, structured, yet silky smooth, with a distinct terroir identity. A Grand Cru for connoisseurs.
Origin and terroir – stony grace on the edge of Chambertin
Latricières-Chambertin lies between Le Chambertin and Morey-Saint-Denis, on soil known as "tricière": poor, stony, and extremely calcareous. The topsoil is rich in pebbles, with marls and fossil-rich Bajocian limestone beneath. This combination produces wines with cool minerality, great refinement, and longevity.
Vinification and maturation – powerful and precise
The grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously selected upon arrival at the cellar. Fermentation and maceration then take place in thermoregulated wooden vats for 18 to 21 days. Maturation takes place in French oak barrels, 40 to 50% of which are new, for 16 to 18 months.
2018 vintage – full, ripe and refined
Albert Bichot describes the 2018 vintage as an "ideal year," in which ripeness, volume, and freshness were perfectly balanced. Despite the warm summer, the Pinot Noir remained remarkably pure and detailed. After over a year of oak aging, this Latricières was partially returned to tank to allow its fruit and terroir to express themselves.
Tasting notes
The nose opens with delicate notes of red and black fruit, roses, and subtle herbs. After aeration, nuances of undergrowth, spices, and leather emerge. On the palate, the wine is impressively structured yet elegant, with silky tannins and perfect balance. The finish is layered, mineral, and exceptionally long.
Serving tips
Serve at 16-17°C. Decanting is recommended for younger bottles.
Dish tip : beef tenderloin with red wine sauce or game stew with truffle.
Also excellent with medium to mature cheeses.
Storage potential
Can easily age for 7 to 10 years, and easily even longer in a good cellar.
