Vinification and grapes
This Meursault Charmes is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes from the Les Charmes Premier Cru vineyard in the Côte de Beaune. The grapes are carefully hand-picked to ensure optimal ripeness. After a gentle pressing, fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in oak barrels, some of which are new. The wine is then further aged in oak barrels, adding depth and complexity, before being bottled and resting for a while in the bottle.
The Albert Bichot winery
Albert Bichot is one of the most prestigious estates in Burgundy, with a history dating back to 1831. Based in Beaune, the family manages several estates in the region's major appellations. Their style is characterized by respect for provenance, with wines that clearly express the distinctive characteristics of their vineyards. Bichot wines are renowned worldwide for their precision and elegance.
2021 vintage in Burgundy
The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was excellent , with wines exhibiting firm structure and slow maturation. For white Burgundies, this translates to wines that combine power and tension and age beautifully. The 2021 Meursault Charmes is therefore not only impressive already but also has the potential to further develop in complexity in the coming years.
Food pairing
Meursault Charmes 2021 truly shines with rich dishes like lobster, turbot, or monkfish in a creamy sauce. It also pairs beautifully with roasted poultry like Bresse chicken or veal in a light cream sauce. For a vegetarian option, this wine pairs beautifully with porcini risotto or a creamy mushroom dish.
