In other words, the harvest is so incredibly good that only grapes from this special vineyard are good enough to produce a fantastic red wine. The vineyard is mature, as the vines have been in the nutrient-rich soil for thirty years. Their deep roots easily absorb moisture, making them resilient to hot summers. The vineyard lies at an altitude of between five hundred and one thousand meters, providing plenty of coolness at night. Temperatures can therefore drop significantly, resulting in a robust harvest. The harvest is hand-harvested and rigorously selected to ensure only the finest juice.

Wood aging for the Allegranza Tempranillo

Once the grapes are harvested, they are laid out on sorting tables for another rigorous selection. Allegranza's winemaker aims to create a pure and clean wine. And he's succeeded admirably. After pressing, some of this red wine is aged for up to four months in French oak barrels. During this period, it becomes fuller and more powerful without losing its smoothness.
