Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2020
Allegrini's iconic Amarone is the result of years of precision and dedication in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico region. Produced exclusively from outstanding vintages, this wine reflects the estate's philosophy of elegance, structure, and exceptional aging potential. The Marezzane and Villa Cavarena vineyards, situated at altitudes between 450 and 520 meters, ensure optimal freshness and aromatic complexity in this powerhouse.
Vineyards and region
The grapes for this Amarone come from carefully selected plots in the Fumane hills, in the heart of Valpolicella Classico. The southeastern-facing slopes and the soils rich in limestone and clay ensure natural drainage and deep root development. The vines are on average 15 years old and are trained according to the Guyot system, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. Harvest takes place in late September and is entirely hand-picked, with strict selection in the vineyard itself.
Vinification and maturation
After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo traditional appassimento in the "fruttaio," during which they lose up to 45% of their weight. The grapes are destemmed and pressed only in December. Fermentation in stainless steel lasts for 25 days at a temperature between 8 and 22°C, with regular pumping over. The wine then matures for at least 18 months in barriques, some new and some second-pass. After blending, the wine rests for another 7 months, and only after at least 14 months of bottle aging is the wine released.

Tasting notes and serving suggestions
This Amarone is deep ruby red with a rich aroma of black cherries, plums, violets, black pepper, and Mediterranean herbs. The second layer reveals nuances of graphite, nuts, figs, and vanilla. Intense and full-bodied on the palate, with ripe yet firm tannins, beautifully woven into the wine. The finish is impressively long. Serve at 18°C with game, stewed dishes, or aged cheeses. It also pairs surprisingly well with panforte or spicy desserts. This wine can easily age for 20 years.
