Allegrini Oasi San Giocomo Soave DOC
A characterful white wine from the renowned Allegrini winery. Since the 16th century, this family has been among the most influential winemakers in Valpolicella and the surrounding area. With deep-rooted knowledge of terroir and tradition, Allegrini crafts wines that are globally acclaimed for their precision and elegance. This Soave demonstrates their ability to create a compelling style with white wine as well.
Vineyards and region
The vineyards are situated on the southwestern slopes of Lavagno and Mezzane di Sotto, east of Verona, at an altitude of 150 meters. The soil is of volcanic origin, rich in minerals, and perfectly suited to the Garganega grape. Thanks to the rainy spring, warm summer, and cool September nights, the fruit was harvested at its peak ripeness, retaining its freshness and aromatic tension.
Vinification and maturation
The manual harvest took place between late September and early October. The grapes were first cold-soaked on the skins for 18 hours at 10°C to extract additional aromas. This was followed by slow fermentation in stainless steel at 15°C, lasting 8 to 10 days. The wine was then aged for four months on lees in stainless steel tanks. No wood was used to preserve the pure character of the Garganega.
Grape composition
Garganega – Lavagno & Mezzane di Sotto
This local grape develops a fresh and minerally style here, with fine acidity and a subtle floral note. The combination of altitude, volcanic soil, and hand-harvesting results in a flawless expression.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
Pale yellow with green highlights. The aroma reveals white flowers, ripe citrus, and a hint of wet stone. Lively and elegant on the palate, with a fresh structure, juicy acidity, and a long, slightly salty finish. Serve at 8–10°C with shellfish, lemon risotto, or a grilled zucchini salad.
