Allegrini Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC
In the heart of Valpolicella Classico lies the historic Grola wine region, where the Allegrini family has excelled in craftsmanship since the 16th century. This Valpolicella Classico Superiore reflects the essence of the region: tradition, terroir, and technical precision. The result is a wine that doesn't need spectacle to impress, but rather convinces with its finesse and depth.
Vineyards and region
The grapes come from the southeast-facing slopes of Grola, with soils rich in clay and limestone. This subsoil provides natural freshness, aromatic refinement, and structure. The vines average 35 years old and are hand-pruned using the Guyot method. This guarantees low yields with high concentration and expression.
Vinification and maturation
The harvest is carried out manually in the second half of September. Fermentation takes place at temperatures between 25 and 31°C in stainless steel tanks for nine days. The wine is then aged for six months in large wooden barrels and another two months in cement tanks. This combination creates both softness and tension in the final blend.
Grape composition
Corvina Veronese – Grola (70%)
Provides structure, clear cherry fruit and a recognizable spicy note.
Rondinella – Grola (30%)
Adds juiciness, floral aromas and balance to the whole.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
Fresh aromas of ripe red cherries, rose petals, and a hint of dried herbs leap from the glass. On the palate, this red wine is energetic and supple, with refined tannins and a clean finish full of red fruit. Serve at 16 to 18°C with a mushroom risotto, roast veal, or pasta with porcini mushrooms.
