This 100% Merlot wine comes from the Trentino Alto Adige region. The vineyards in Magrè and Salorno lie at altitudes of 230 to 500 meters. The soil consists of sand and limestone, and the vines planted here are between 10 and 40 years old. The grapes enjoy a cool microclimate here with significant variations between day and night temperatures. This is important for preserving sufficient freshness and acidity in the grapes.
The high-quality wines of Alois Lageder
Alois Lageder stands for high quality and a wide range of wines. The winery was founded in 1823 and is now run by the fifth generation of the Alois Lageder family. He successfully combines tradition and innovation. The beginning goes back to 1823, when Johann Lageder laid the foundation in Bolzano. The Lageder family has been making wine for almost 200 years. And throughout that time, they have always maintained the highest quality standards. Healthy, perfectly ripe grapes, careful and protective working methods in both the vineyard and the cellar, and time are the key requirements for producing Lageder's exceptional wines. The wine cellar in Magrè was recently renovated and is fully organic.
The labels form a beautiful, symbolic bridge between the vineyards and the cellar, and, on the other hand, the wine that ultimately finds its way into the glass. Each one is an exceptional wine that will amaze you and bode well for the future.
8 months of wood aging for Alois Lageder Merlot
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness. In the cellar, a further strict selection process takes place to ensure only the very best grapes are used for the final wine. Fermentation follows, followed by 14 days of maceration in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine is aged for eight months in large Slavonian oak barrels. This Alto Adige wine has a soft ruby-red color with garnet highlights. It has a pure aroma of ripe berries, youthful and rounded aromas with a hint of spice (pepper). Medium-bodied, with soft fruit, some tannins, and a fresh, pleasant acidity.
