This organic wine from pioneer Alois Lageder impresses with a distinct, expansive aroma of ripe fruit, delicate woody spices, and a round, full body. It's a wonderful accompaniment to appetizers and is also exceptional thanks to its innovative winemaking techniques. To maximize freshness and flavor, some berries are pressed immediately, some are left on the mash for 15 hours, and some remain on the mash and stems for about a year.

The successful wines of Alois Lageder

Alois Lageder is a descendant of a family passionately dedicated to winemaking for four generations. He sees it as his duty to cultivate healthy grapes and vinify them with the utmost care to produce successful wines. Over time, this family has achieved remarkable success in acquiring various estates and vineyards in the finest wine regions of Alto Adige. They farm exclusively organically. The labels form a beautiful, symbolic bridge between the vineyards and the cellar, and, on the other hand, the wine that ultimately reaches the glass. Each of these exceptional wines is truly astonishing and promises great things for the future.

The vinification process of Alois Lageder Porer Pinot Grigio

The vines are up to 29 years old and thrive on the Margreider scree in stony, sandy, and very calcareous soils. The grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously selected for quality. Eighty percent of the wine is fermented and held on its own fine lees in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for six months in large Slavonian wood barrels. The remaining 20 percent is fermented and aged in French oak barriques. In the glass, the straw-yellow Pinot Grigo shines with slightly reddish reflections and radiates aromatic notes of melon and peach. The fresh, fruity character continues on the palate and is complemented by full, spicy, mineral notes that create a pleasant tension in the finish.
