The king's wine from the Luzon winery, this Altos de Luzon! This powerful red wine is the perfect harmony and balance of Monastrell grapes with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon. The selection of vineyards located at an altitude of 600 meters yields few but beautiful grapes, and the harvest is done by hand, giving us the perfect definition of elegance and tradition.
The perfect climate for Luzon wines
The Jumilla wine region is located in southeastern Spain, north of the Murcia region. The climate is continental, influenced by the nearby Mediterranean Sea, with warm days, rainfall that doesn't exceed 300 liters per square meter, and cool nights. The result is a harsh climate, resulting in coarse-textured soil with a high limestone content, which produces small bunches with good sugar concentration, excellent acidity, and thicker skins.
One year of wood aging for the Altos de Luzon
The harvest is meticulously carried out by hand, with the fruit treated with the utmost care. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes pass through a selection table, where only the best grapes are selected for the winemaking process. The grapes are fermented and, depending on the grape variety, macerated on their skins for a good two weeks at a constant temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. Before bottling, the wine is aged for a year in French and American oak barrels.
After this long wood aging, the Altos de Luzon is ready to drink. A garnet-like purple color with a powerful aroma of ripe fruit, a touch of spice, and light notes of cocoa and toasted oak. On the palate, this Altos de Luzon has a very full palate and beautifully ripe tannins on the tongue. Flavor nuances of blackberry, plum, vanilla, toasted oak, as well as spices and tobacco. Good acidity with a silky texture and excellent balance.
