Description
The Propiedad Rioja is sourced from the five best plots of La Montesa. The terroir is the starting point, and because Palacios considers Garnacha to be the best grape in terms of quality, only this grape is used.
Alvaro Palacios, whose family owns the prestigious Rioja Bodega, Palacios Remondo, spent two years at Château Pétrus before setting up his own business in Priorat in 1989. From the outset, he aimed to produce world-class wines using extremely low-yield fruit from old vines and applying state-of-the-art winemaking techniques.
The flagship wine of Alvaro Palacios
The Palacios Remondo winery is located in the eastern part of Spain's oldest and most famous wine region, the DOC Rioja. The estate's flagship wine, Propiedad, is made from old-vine Garnacha grapes grown in beautiful high-altitude vineyards nestled on the rocky slopes of the Rioja Oriental. Produced in a vintage designated "Very Good" by the DOCa Rioja. Hand-picked, old-vine Garnacha clusters are selected, first in the field and again on a sorting table at the winery, before being removed and placed individually in 5,000-liter oak tanks for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation with indigenous yeasts. After a long maceration of 47 days, a first blend is made, and the wine is aged for eighteen months in French oak barrels and foudres. The wine is then left unfiltered before bottling. The unique aromas of Propiedad Rioja
The Propiedad boasts unique aromas of candied orange peel, ripe strawberries, marzipan, dried Mediterranean herbs, and soft, toasted oak notes. Well-balanced and exceptionally smooth on the palate, the 2015 Propiedad is simultaneously feminine, floral, and fruity, with excellent oak integration, comparable to the world's finest Pinot Noirs. With well-integrated tannins and an incredibly long finish, this wine is meant to be enjoyed now or aged for up to ten years. Only 3,300 9-liter cases were produced.Product details
