This red wine from the Le Preare series is made by the Cantina di Negrar winery, a well-known name when it comes to top Veneto wines. The winery has been active since 1933, when a group of winegrowers joined forces as a cooperative to establish a winery. With all their knowledge and experience, it was bound to be a success, and it certainly has been. Today, it's a state-of-the-art winery that maintains its traditions. Cantina di Negrar has over two hundred members, with vineyards spread throughout the region. This allows winemaker Daniele Accordini to seek out the best combinations to vinify top-notch wines.
The top wine is of course the Amarone from Le Preare
This Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is the jewel, the gem, whatever you prefer, of Cantina di Negrar. It all begins in the oldest and finest vineyards where the grapes grow. This red wine uses Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes. The vineyards are situated at varying altitudes, from 50 meters to as high as 250 meters above sea level. This allows the winemaker to have greater depth in the harvest and harvest each grape individually. The entire harvest is gathered entirely by hand to select only the best bunches. After picking, the bunches are placed on beds. Yes, you read that right: the bunches are placed on beds to dry; they lose as much as 30 percent of their weight. The remaining juice is highly concentrated, after which the bunches are pressed.
Full and very powerful this Le Preare Amarone
Le Preare's king wine, this Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. This Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Le Preare is then aged for 30 months in Slovenian oak. This is followed by another 6 months of bottle aging in Le Preare's cellars. Only when the bottles are in top condition are they sold! It's a real treat, because as soon as the bottle is opened, we smell a powerful aroma of stewed black fruit and a hint of dried plum. The wine has a ruby red color with purple glints. Nosing the glass, we detect nuances of black cherries, plums, raisins, and a hint of spice. The taste is soft and delightful, with plenty of black fruit accompanied by notes of chocolate, plums, spices, and so on. What a treat! If only we could drink this every day!
