The Fine Ruby Port from the Andresen family business is a diverse blend of Donzelinho Tinto, Mourisco Tinto, Tinta Barroca, and Tinta Roriz. Each grape variety lends its own unique character to this Port. Harmonious and delightful aromas are the best way to describe this Port.
A blend of native grape varieties
Since 1845, the Andresen Port House has focused on producing fine port wines. It was the young Jann Hinrich Andresen, who arrived from Germany at the age of 14, who fell in love with Portugal and port wines. Porto, his first destination, was also his last: he was initially hired by a trading house where he excelled with his honesty and business acumen, and then founded his own trading house in 1845, which has since borne his name. It is one of the few Port houses still owned by the same family. Port is produced there in all shapes and sizes.
The various indigenous grape varieties for this Ruby Port are grown in beautiful vineyards in the Douro region. The grapes are carefully and selectively harvested. This makes a significant difference in the final port. At the winery, the grapes are deliberately left undestemmed and macerated in stainless steel tanks for a full day. Once this is complete, fermentation follows, lasting two days and interrupted halfway through when wine alcohol is added. The wine is aged in large, old wooden barrels until it is ready for bottling. The different wines are then blended to create the final Fine Ruby Port.
Enjoy a fruity and powerful Fine Ruby Port
The Fine Ruby Port is a ruby red, radiating in the glass. Its aromas range from cherry and forest fruits to chocolate. A beautiful balance of aromas reveals both the fruity character and the slightly warm aromas. The palate is delightfully fruity, fresh, and vibrant. The soft tannins balance everything beautifully. Thanks to its warm character, the Port pairs perfectly with desserts, such as a chocolate brownie.
