This beautiful Andreza winery is part of the Wines & Winemakers by Saven cooperative. And that's a well-known group of wine enthusiasts. Together, they create the finest wines with great love and are always looking for innovative winemaking techniques. We taste that in this white wine: a modern style that preserves classic Portuguese traditions. In recent years, the Andreza winery has taken a major step with the appointment of winemaker Francisco Baptista. He had a significant influence on this top-notch wine. And we taste that today: such purity and power.
A blend of classic Portuguese grape varieties
The grapes for this wine come from the Douro region. Each year, Viosinho and Verdelho grapes are selected. Together, they create a truly special wine. The grapes grow in a perfect climate—plenty of sunshine, cool mountain breezes, and falling nighttime temperatures—making the terroir unique. The rich soil structure provides the grapes with the right nutrition and strength. After a long ripening period, the grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously inspected.
Wood aging for the Andreza Reserva white
After pressing and fermentation, the juice is aged in oak barrels. We use French barrels, all unused. This gives this white wine its full aroma and flavor, as you'll undoubtedly notice. This Andreza Reserva is a wine that will always stay with you, because it's so delicious and richly flavored. The old vines, some 60 years old, give this white Andreza Reserva its full attack and unique character. It's not just any wine; it's one with both bite and power. The aroma reveals nuances of intense yellow fruit like apricots, peaches, and a hint of lime. The oak aging is clearly noticeable on the palate, full and powerful with plenty of vanilla, oak, yellow fruit, lemon peel, and hints of spice and dried fruit.
