This is the top wine from Antiche Terre Venete, a true gem, we can tell you. The family estate is located in the Veneto region of Italy, specifically in Sezano. A beautiful town nestled in the Valpantena Valley, also known as "The Valley of the Gods." It's a fairytale-like setting, and the Antiche Terre Venete vineyards are magnificent. Throughout its history, the winery has invested heavily in modern winemaking techniques while preserving ancient Italian traditions. This is how the winery has become a true local hero, with its red Amarone della Valpolicella as its jewel.

The drying technique for an Amarone wine

For this superb red wine, the Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes are grown on the oldest vines of Antiche Terre Venete. With deep roots in the chalky soil, the vines thrive, and this, combined with the wonderful climate, makes it a success. After a long ripening period, the bunches are harvested with great care and placed in small crates for transport to the wineries. Once arrived, the bunches are placed in beds—yes, you read that right. These beds hang in drying houses where the bunches remain for at least 100 days. The grapes are dried and curdled, giving the juice an unprecedentedly rich and powerful character. After the drying period, the wine is pressed, and the juice is immediately of unparalleled quality.

Wood aging for the Antiche Terre Venete Amarone

The wine then matures for several months in oak barrels, after which it's ready to drink. A pure indulgence of the highest order, because as soon as the bottle is opened, we noted impressions of drying grapes, spices, and tobacco. The sultry aroma extends in the glass, and we noted nuances of blackcurrant fruit, plums, and a touch of cocoa. The palate is powerful yet smooth, with plenty of black fruit. Rich notes of plums, cedar, vanilla, and currants. What a gem, and yes, for this price, this red wine is truly incredible.
