A top wine from the Galicia region, namely Riax Biaxas from the Atlantis winery. The Atlantis winery, which refers to the sea that influences the vineyards, belongs to the powerhouse Vintae. Vintae has become very well-known for its innovative projects. Originally, Vintae had been producing wine in the Rioja region for many years. José Miguel Arambarri took over the winery from his parents in 1999 to breathe new life into it. He pushed the boundaries and later, with his sons José Miguel and Ricardo, went even further to further develop the wines. Today, in addition to Rioja wines, Vintae also has vineyards in the Rías Baixas where they grow the Albariño grape native to this region.
The vineyards are located along the Mino River
The vineyards for this white Atlantis wine are located in Codado de Tea, on the right bank of the Mino River. At an altitude of 250 meters, the vineyards are filled with Albariño grapes. The slopes are inclined at a ten-degree angle, allowing them to enjoy both abundant sunlight and the cool climate that characterizes the region. The vines are quite old and rooted in sandy and granite soils. This allows the plants to draw sufficient strength from the rich soil structure and allows the climate to take its course. The harvest for this white wine from Galicia is entirely hand-picked. Each bunch is inspected to maintain the purity of this white Atlantis wine.
Full and very powerful this Atlantis Albariño
The Albariño grapes grow on very old vines, planted in soil composed of sand and granite. These old vines receive ample sunshine, but even more importantly, the cool sea breezes that blow in from the Atlantic coast. This white wine owes its name to this very sea, named after the "Atlantis"! This sea is crucial for the Rías Baixas wine region, as the Albariño grape needs a lot of cooling. Atlantis by Maetierra has aromas of apple, tropical fruit, pineapple, and a hint of peach. A touch of green herbs and minerals also make this white Albariño a true winner. The palate is full-bodied and very powerful, with a beautiful interplay of fruit and tannins. On the palate, deep flavors of red apple and tropical fruit, along with subtle hints of mint and stone fruit. The finish is long and full-bodied with plenty of power.
