Varietal(s) Riesling

The most important and also the best-known German grape variety is the Riesling. This grape prefers wine regions with a cooler climate and thrives particularly well on steep slopes. The grapes are sourced from the best vineyards in the area, which gives this Daily August Riesling its wonderfully fresh and mineral flavor.

The best vineyards of the August Kesseler winery

August Kesseler Winery was founded in 1924 in the Rheingau. The vineyards are planted on the steep slopes of Assmannshäuser Höllenberg and Rüdesheimer-Berg Schlossberg. Here, 75 percent Riesling and 35 percent Pinot Noir grapes are planted. The winery currently owns over 30 hectares of vineyards. August still owns the estate and can be found working in the vineyards daily. This is where the wine's name, Daily August, comes from. The two-story wine cellar, built in 1792, is dug out of the rock and offers ideal conditions for winemaking year-round. Kesseler strives to produce cool, mineral wines. Quality is continuously maintained during production, with regular tastings taking place. If the quality is not up to par, the bottles will not bear the August Kesseler label. The Riesling grapes for this white wine come from vines planted in Lorch and Rüdesheim. They are on average 25 years old and benefit from a soil composed of slate, loess, and clay. This foundation gives the grapes their unique characteristics. Each vineyard plot is vinified separately. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.

The smell and taste of August Kesseler The Daily August Riesling

The Riesling is a lemon yellow in the glass with a beautiful green hue. We immediately smell aromas of citrus, lemon, and peach. It's deliciously fruity and juicy. The fruitier character interplays beautifully with the pleasant acidity. It's a perfect wine to pair with Asian cuisine, but also very good with asparagus.
